Xero Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Extends To All Users from 1 June

Xero Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Extends To All Users from 1 June

Not using Xero accounting software? Feel free to sit this one out.

Although all main users will already be aware and have MFA set up, all remaining users will now be asked to follow suit from 1 June or possibly as early as today 28 May.

What is MFA?

MFA is designed to provide a more secure way to log into your Xero account, helping prevent anyone from gaining unauthorised access and preventing data breaches – keeping information safe.

The secondary authentication is via an app on your smartphone or PC.

When will I need to set-up MFA?

Initially, there will be an opt-in phase where you’ll see a ‘Not now’ button to skip setup before MFA starts becoming mandatory in mid-June.

After 2 July 2021, it will be mandatory for all UK Xero customers to set up and use MFA to log in, unless you’re a payroll employee or you only use the Xero portal and Ask portal.

Help with your transition

Xero have a dedicated MFA web page to help answer any questions you may have, but otherwise get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to assist.
